Coach Kiwi appointed Men’s Seniors Head Coach
Macquarie University is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Roper (Kiwi) as Seniors Head Coach and Head of Men’s Program.
The first female coach in Sydney to complete the Level 3 AFL coaching accreditation, and part of the BHP Female Coaching Academy, Kiwi brings with her a wealth of elite coaching experience, across a breadth of football programs. Most recently, Kiwi spent two years as part of the Sandringham Dragons U18 Boys and Girls NAB League coaching panel, which saw 22 players drafted into the AFL and AFLW over that period, including three picks in the first seven of the most recent AFL National Draft. In addition, Kiwi has also coached with Vic Metro U18 girls, helping to guide some of the best female young talent in the country. With previous coaching roles at Darebin, Collingwood, Eastern Ranges and Fitzroy Stars, Kiwi’s deep coaching experience will be a huge addition to the club’s coaching panel.
A big advocate of footy in Sydney, Kiwi also has a deep connection with the club. She played over 250 games for Macquarie University and was later coach of the Women’s Premier Division team in 2020. Now back in NSW, the club is delighted that she has been keen to take on the new challenge of heading up our Men’s program and taking our Senior Men’s team to the next level in what will be an exciting, refreshed Platinum Division competition. Exciting times lie ahead for season 2023 and beyond.
